The trio has worked extensively at Restaurants, Hotel Lounges (residency @ Sheraton Brisbane - 2 years), Reception Centres, Promotional/Corporate functions and a variety of private engagements all over South East Queensland.

The success of Unit 7 is due to the level of professionalism, not only in the music performed but also the dress sense and ability to adapt to the needs of our clients.

Unit 7 are;

Owen Gray - Piano & Vocals

Based in Southeast Queensland (Maleny), I have been playing professionally throughout Australia and the North Island of New Zealand. Previous to this though, I was awarded the title of "1984 Nth Queensland Entertainer of the Year".

This award prompted me to move to Brisbane where I had further private instrument tuition from acclaimed pianists and vocal tuition from a Mr. Jack White, who has taught the likes of John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and John St Peters to name just a few.

Some of the highlights of my career so far are being given the opportunity to perform with and support top artists such as;

RENEE GEYER, JOE CAMILLERI & THE BLACK SORROWS, DIG, CHARLEY PRIDE, KATE CEBERANO, BULLAMAKANKA, JOHN WILLIAMSON, PETER PAUL & MARY and REDGUM.

Brett Newman - Drums, Percussion & Vocals

Began performing: At age of 16 playing Drum kit & guitar at school for school chapel performances. By age 19 - performances for youth aid concerts called 'Youth Alive', with audiences of up to 1000.

At age 20, began regular gigging with a Rock/blues band.

By age 21 performing for Adrian Ross (Australian Indigenous artist), touring from the city to rural and outback areas. Funk/world styles.

During this time, began working in a studio for a production company as a sound engineer and drummer/percussionist. Live work still continued, one of which was with a pop artist, Kelly Murphy, with performances at The Queensland Music Awards (The Sunny Awards) and Reconciliation Day (Suncorp Stadium) for a crowd of 16,000, supporting acts for the likes of Vanetta Fields and Troy Casar-Daley.

Since then I have mostly been a free lance performer. For both live and studio sessions, playing anything from Jazz, Funk, Blues, Rock, Folk, World styles, Afro-Cuban/Latin styles, Country, and more. One of my current projects is original band, called 'ShowPony'. This band has won several band competitions, one of which was held at Dreamworlds big brother stage. Run by Dreamworld, Coca Cola & MMM. For covers band work, my main highlight is a band called 'Sexual Chocolate'. This is a funk band that can really groove to get an audience dancing.

Performed/performing with (Live or in studio): Owen Gray, ShowPony, Sexual Chocolate, Alan Kelly, Chris Webbe, Matt Baker (keyboardist of Galapagos Duck), Dave Moon (Glen Shorock Band), Toni Childs (1x short jam session), Carl Lynch, Doc Span, James T (Canned Heat), Clint Francis Band, Harrii Bandhu, Barry Charles, Ingrid James, Paul Clement, John Nichol, The Groove Merchants, Twisted Harmony, Emily Maguire Band (UK touring artist), Jay Bishoff, Paul Fogarty, The Pleasure Kings, Scott Mellis, Jose Cubis, Kate Gibson Band, Steve Hargreaves, Directors Cut, The Barleyshakes, and more.
