Owen Gray - Musician, Vocalist, Songwriter, Producer, Arranger, Entertainer & Teacher

Based in Southeast Queensland (Maleny), I have been playing professionally throughout Australia and the North Island of New Zealand. Previous to this though, I was awarded the title of "1984 Nth Queensland Entertainer of the Year".

This award prompted me to move to Brisbane where I had further private instrument tuition from acclaimed pianists and vocal tuition from a Mr. Jack White, who has taught the likes of John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and John St Peters to name just a few.

Some of the highlights of my career so far are being given the opportunity to perform with and support top artists such as;

RENEE GEYER, JOE CAMILLERI & THE BLACK SORROWS, DIG, CHARLEY PRIDE, KATE CEBERANO, BULLAMAKANKA, JOHN WILLIAMSON, PETER PAUL & MARY and REDGUM.

The next twelve months will see me concentrating on building upon my current catalogue of original music whilst I develop teaching programs (focusing on instrument development, theory and live performance skills) for the VET sector. I will also continue my live performances and hold on to the enjoyment factor of performing and promoting my own show and original music.

Musical History

- age 5 started playing guitar & organ
- age 10 introduced to acoustic piano
- age 12 became a member of BURDEKIN BRASS BAND playing euphonium
- age 13 was awarded 2nd place in Queensland for Best Solo Performance during the annual Brass Band Festival
- age 15 invited to join my first live pop/country band playing keyboards, guitar, drums and singing
- this same band won numerous awards with the Charters Towers Country Music Festival
- age 18 won the title of Nth Queensland Entertainer of the Year
- age 19 moved to Brisbane and started playing the live circuit
- age 25 signed to Looking For Cool Publishing Company

Musical Experience

- main instruments are piano/keyboards (forte), organ, bass guitar, rhythm guitar, drums, trombone and euphonium
- secondary instruments are all woodwind, brass and string section (inclusively)
- extensive vocal training in pitch, tone and harmony
- level 6 AMEB practical (credited at age 22)
- level 5 AMEB theory (credited at age 22)
- 15+ years experience in arranging and programming music using Logic Audio
- 20+ years experience in professional profile recording studios
- 10+ years of professional song writing both solo and collectively
